Apologies for the radio silence out here! A string of high wind and relatively high seas, but otherwise beautiful sunny days, have left Alvin and Sentry high and dry. That means we have been devoting our ship time to collecting bathymetric data of our study site using the ship’s multibeam echo-sounder and collecting rock samples using a device not so consistently dubbed the “rock corer”, “glass core”, “gravity core” or “wax core”. We’ll be doing more of this type of sampling today so I think it is worth its own post. Stay tuned.
